An eight month old baby girl recently underwent a surgery after her 28-year-old cousin raped her!
Locals erupted in protest after the troubling incident surfaced on internet.
It has been reported that the baby girl was admitted to a local hospital of New Delhi in a critical state with a number of ‘horrific’ injuries. Even after undergoing through a three-hour long operation, she is critical but relatively stable.
Police revealed that this barbaric incident took place in the family’s home itself. It has further been disclosed that the alleged perpetrator, the baby’s 28-year-old cousin, has now been arrested.
While describing the condition of baby, it was told that the internal organs of the baby were severely damaged during the sexual assault, due to which she is now on life support.
Swati Mliwal, Delhi’s Commission for Women chair, has appealed to the Prime Minister of India to safeguard girls ‘with strict laws and more police resources’.
She too talked about the 3-hour long surgery that the baby had to go through. While speaking of it she tweeted, “Her heart-rending cries could be heard in the intensive-care unit of the hospital. She has horrific injuries in her internal organs.”
She continued, “I can still hear her screams and cries. As DCW chief, I feel horrified at this abuse of a child, I feel as if I have been raped. She is on life support right now.”
In another tweet, she said, “What to do? How can Delhi sleep today when 8 month baby has been brutally raped in capital? Have we become so insensitive or we have simply accepted this is our fate.”
More and more sexual assault and harassment stories are coming out in the wake of gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old medical student in New Delhi. That horrible incident was the one that compelled both the government and authorities to introduce stricter anti-rape legislation.
People on Twitter are now arguing: if a girl dressed in ‘provocative’ clothes is ‘asking for it’ what’s the excuse for raping an eight-month old baby?
