Nana Pelucas, a YouTuber whose real name is Pamela Montengro de Real, was shot dead by two unidentified men on Monday evening at a beach resort in Acapulco, Mexico.
The tragic incident took place at her own restaurant which goes by the name, Todos Los Santos.
The shooters fled the scene and have therefore been unable to be identified. The crime seemed to be of a targeted nature, and people are speculating that Nana may have been assassinated because of her political views.
Guerrero state Chief Prosecutor, Xavier Olea, said a gang who had split from the ‘Independent Cartel of Acapulco’ killed Montenegro because she had exposed them and revealed sensitive information about the gang’s working in one of her videos.
This was picked up by the dangerous gangs and hence led to her tragic fate.
The victim was also popular on social media and had her own YouTube channel called ‘El Sillon’. Her channel has 2.2 thousand subscribers.
Her work was focused on different discussions regarding politics and the public, as well beauty and makeup tutorials.
The YouTuber blogger had unfortunately become a part of a conspiracy involving the government and the local public, and hence been indirectly involved in the exposure of gangs and their members.
Washington has recently been subject to a rather increased amount of violence.
Violence has splintered to not only different places and forms but also to different people on account of minor heated disagreements.
Just last year, another similar incident took place where a 17-year-old YouTuber insulted another drug cartel in a video and he was shot dead too. Apparently, the YouTuber was drunk when he made claims against the cartel and was later shot several times.
He sustained several injuries to his body and was murdered in a brutal manner.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends, as well as all those who have been victims of suspected drug violence.
